The door bell rang and I somewhat over excitedly threw myself down the stairs from the office in a rush to get there. What could possibly be of such importance and excitement that I would be throwing myself down the stairs for it…… Carrie and Tom’s wedding Album had arrived!
You may remember Carrie and Tom’s wedding from back in May. Well we meet over lunch a few weeks ago and spent several hours catching up, choosing pictures from their wedding for their album and munching on some lovely lunch prepared by Carrie.
They chose a stunning Jorgensen Album in black leather and isn’t it beautiful.

That black leather cover is so soft to touch, you just want to keep touching it!
It’s super thick because Carrie and Tom wanted so many of their pictures in their album and it feels great.

Here’s a sneaky peek at the first page

It has extra special flip out pages which allow the story of their day to flow through the album.
I have a feeling I will be taking another over excited tumble down the stairs again in a few weeks, for those of you who follow me on twitter (@hayleyoats) or facebook (Hayley Ruth) you will know that I have ordered a new sample album from America, stunningly simple and oh so very beautiful, I can’t wait for it to arrive. Don’t worry I promise I will post some pictures on here for you all to see

On Sunday 4th October 2009 I will be one of the exhibitors at the Pontelands Park wedding show in Chelmsford.
Wedding shows are a great opportunity to meet with suppliers, have a close look at venues, and get great ideas for your big day, without the pressure of needing to make an immediate decision.
I’ve been working hard on getting together lots of cool things to share with visitors to me at the show and anyone who comes to see me at the wedding show will not only get a warm welcome and answers to their questions, but also a little celebration gift from me.
This event is being run by the very experienced and dedicated team at Main Event CO UK Ltd, here is their Wedding Shows a Brides Best Friend Guide.
WEDDING SHOWS……..A BRIDES BEST FRIEND……….
Think of all the things you need for your special day. Where do you start?
The venue is the most important first decision, so decide on how many guests will be coming and then who can accommodate them?
Is it the fairytale, historic beautiful setting of a castle, period country house or converted barn or the chic modern hotel or restaurant that offers you space and a choice of facilities?
Wedding shows in venues are the perfect opportunity for you to look around, with no pressure to make an immediate decision.
They offer a close inspection of facilities, staff and food options coupled with the added bonus of all the other services and products you will need being displayed with an opportunity to meet the supplier and discuss your requirements .
From the show you can also gain ideas and contacts while you see bands perform, inspect the quality of decoration, stationery, bridal gowns and photographers work and many other important things that mean so much on the day.
The Main Event Co Uk Ltd have dedicated their careers to organising quality shows at some of the most loved, yet sometimes surprising venues, to host shows in the south east.
So come along - See the difference - find suppliers and new ideas……

Come and see me, I’d love to hear about your plans for your special day.

Last week I decided to treat myself to a new camera bag, but not any old camera bag as I keep telling Simon, who groans and rolls his eyes everytime I look at one.
This one is super special, it’s a shoot sac! Unlike all the other big bulky camera bags out there, this one is beautiful and slim line! Not only that, it holds and protects everything I need it too right there are my finger tips and still has room for my phone, wallet and keys! Such amazing qualities from something so small and beautiful. It fits me too which is a real bonus and it’s so slim there is no danger of me knocking anyone out with it as I spin round, camera to my eye, unlike my backpack!
And there’s more!! You have a choice of covers so that you can personalise it and look uber cool! I chose a gorgeous black and white cover.
So I’m sorry old green camera bag, you are now retired.
Here is my new pride and joy.

Having used it at the weekend extensively, I have to say it’s the best camera bag I have ever had! Simon – I won’t be looking at another one again! (But I might have to have a choice of covers for it! ;o))

Well as you know from my previous post I recently spent the weekend second shooting with the fabulous Rebecca Honeywell in York.
After a relaxing late Saturday evening, where I was spoiled rotten by Colin, Rebecca’s husband. He’d been to the shops and not knowing which type of chocolate I might like had bought a great selection, I liked them all! We set off on the Sunday morning to capture Donna and Mike’s wedding. This couple have a personal motto from Peter Pan, to never grow up. So it should come as no surprise that is was a fun filled day.
They got married at Newburgh Priory, a stunning setting with amazing vast open grounds. The reception was at the Crab and Lobster. This venue also had the most amazing gardens, with lots of fun and quirky corners. The interior was really intimate, and completely encapsulated all Donna and Mike’s wedding details.
Here are some of my shoots from their day:
We pulled up on Donna’s driveway to see her beautiful dress hanging in the window.

As we got out of the car the flowers also arrived. The colours of these roses is so delicate, they matched Donna’s dress perfectly

Donna was running a little (30 minutes) late and Mike had to be very patient!

A little celebratory dancing

I love the driver in this one, with his best sunday smile for the happy couple.

Thank you Rebecca I had a fantastic weekend and I look forward to doing it together again soon.

A couple of weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of spending the weekend with Rebecca Honeywell assisting her at two weddings. I have to say I was glad to leave home for the weekend, as whilst we basked in the glorious blue sky and sunshine in York, home was suffering from constant heavy rain. (Mum always said I was a little ray of sunshine so maybe I took it with me? ;o))
I love second shooting as it allows you the time and space to try new things and by taking a background role you can capture images from a completley different perspective. It’s brilliant to work and catch up with each other, sharing new and exciting ideas. Working with Rebecca is a very relaxed experience, she is so calm and well prepared, including lots of lovely sandwiches and snacks to munch on throughout the day. Thanks for the food boosts R!
The first wedding was Anna and Tom. They were married at Upper Poppleton Church and then had a fantastic reception at the Hospitium, York. These two are so relaxed and easy in each other’s company, they exchange looks with each other that just make everyone laugh!
Here are some of my shots from the day:
This was before we started playing the show me your war face game, everything is sereen, calm and beautiful.

These two just love to mess about, which is great for fun natural images.

This is Anna trying and failing to hold it together after showing Tom her new war face pose! You can see the war face on Rebecca’s Blog

A soft tender moment

A simple look that speaks a thousand words, I love it.
